this is deren at home before we went out today. something pleasant in pittsburgh today…was it possibly the weather?

I found out Alex Chilton died today when I finally got on a computer today. It kind of breaks my heart in a way..I think always believed that song “Thirteen” was the song of all songs to describe love in high school, and then those first few months of being “in love”…anything to do with the serious bittersweetness of it. Every time I made a mix while head over heels, this was always the song I chose first. I know it’s a typical favorite when it comes to Big Star, but I can’t help it. I’m a sucker.

my book about john brill came from amazon last week. when i think of my favorite blurry photographs, he comes to mind. some of his images are so completely out of focus there is little to see besides the remains of an action or motion. and if you don’t try to see at all, it becomes completely abstract. i’m finding myself less and less drawn to working with pinhole. part of it is the printing process.

b and i found this last week while surfing the nets. it may be my next subject.
